SUMMARY:Called & Gifted Team Training
DESCRIPTION:Called & Gifted Team Training will equip you and your key leaders to provide charism discernment for your parishioners so that they can know and live according to the spiritual gifts they received in their Baptism. Mary Martin and Colleen O’Dowd from the Catherine of Siena Institute will lead this two-day training. Both days of the training are required.\nYou and your team need to have completed the three-step Called & Gifted charism discernment process before attending Team Training. The three steps are:\n1. Called & Gifted Workshop (live or online), which includes completion of the Spiritual Gifts Inventory\n2. Charism Interview (in-person or via Zoom)\n3. Charism Experimentation (personally or via a Discernment-in-Depth Small Group)\nContact Nicholas Hardesty at nhardesty@catholicaoc.org if you or any of your key leaders need to complete the charism discernment process before attending the Team Training.\nFrequently Asked Questions\n\nWhat is Team Training?\nTeam Training is a period of training that equips a team to provide the Catherine of Siena Institute’s three-step charism discernment process for their parish.\n\n\nWho can attend Team Training?\nAnyone who has completed the three-step charism discernment process can attend Team Training.\n\n\nWhat is the three-step charism discernment process?\n1. Called & Gifted Workshop (either live or virtually via CSI’s online learning platform)\n• During the workshop, participants will also complete the Spiritual Gifts Inventory\n2. Charism Interview (either in-person or via Zoom)\n3. Charism Experimentation (either personally or as part of a Discernment in Depth small group)\n\n\nCan I attend Team Training by myself, or do I have to be part of a team?\nYou can attend by yourself, but it is better to attend along with other people from your Family of Parishes so that you are not the only one providing the three-step charism discernment process for your Family of Parishes.\n\n\nHow do I get myself or my team members caught up on the three-step discernment process before Team Training begins?\nFor the first step, you will need to purchase access to the online version of Called & Gifted for each person who needs to complete that workshop. This is what you would purchase for each person: Called & Gifted: Self Study Edition + Print Resources\nIf you are concerned about the cost, we have some grants that are available. You can see those here: Grants – Center for New Evangelization\nIf you are outside the deadline for a grant, contact Sean Ater (sater@catholicaoc.org ( mailto:sater@catholicaoc.org )) about the possibility of applying outside of the deadline.\n“For the second step, I can conduct the Charism Interviews for you for free. Once a member of your team has finished Called and Gifted, they can reserve a time for the interview by emailing Nicholas Hardesty (nhardesty@catholicaoc.org).”\nMy Calendly is currently not working, and so until I can get it fixed, I would like people to email me instead.\nFor the third step, a person can begin charism experimentation individually, or as part of a Discernment in Depth small group. At the end of your Charism Interview, your interviewer will help you create a plan for experimenting with one charism. If you want to form your team into a Discernment in Depth small group, the sessions for the small group are in the “Complete Resource” manual that you get when you purchase online access to Called & Gifted.\n\n\nWhat are the benefits of attending this particular Team Training?\n• We are hosting it here locally, so you don’t have to travel to a Team Training that another diocese is hosting.\n• Attending the Team Training live is typically a better experience than attending it over Zoom.\n• Our event will complete the Team Training in two days, instead of the typical format, which spreads the training out over two consecutive weekends (Fri., Sat., and Sun.).\n\n\nWhat is the cost for attending the Team Training?\nThe Team Training itself is $50/person. This covers lunch and all training materials for both days.\nIf you or your team members need to complete the three-step discernment process beforehand, then there is a cost associated with Step 1, which involves gaining access to the online version of Called & Gifted. That access is $69/person, which covers access to Called & Gifted, the Spiritual Gifts Inventory, the Complete Resource Manual, and a copy of Fruitful Discipleship, Sherry Weddell’s book on the charisms.\n\n\nAre there any grants or scholarships available?\nYes! See our Grants page for information about two grants that we have available: Grants – Center for New Evangelization ( https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.centerforthenewevangelization.org%2Fgrants&data=05%7C02%7Cnhardesty%40catholicaoc.org%7C5af89b18044545507b2a08dd96ccd138%7C29455338a5944195a677bf1582df0ff9%7C0%7C0%7C638832528715143836%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=GOYO8gUjikBy8DgYZgrF5UrwtdukBkgvbebTt8tI0Is%3D&reserved=0 ). If you are passed the deadline for a grant, email Sean Ater (sater@catholicaoc.org ( mailto:sater@catholicaoc.org )) about the possibility of applying outside of the deadline.\n\n\nWhat are charisms?\nCharisms are spiritual gifts that we receive at Baptism that equip us to build up the Church and to respond to God’s call upon our lives. Charisms are always for others, but there is benefit for the person with the charism too, namely: charisms make us come alive, they fill us with joy and a sense of fulfillment, and they bear a supernatural fruitfulness when use them.\nOur charisms begin to emerge in our lives when our relationship with Jesus becomes personal and when the need is present that calls for the charism.\nSherry Weddell has identified 23 of the most common charisms, based on her extensive research into Church teaching and her experience conducting thousands of Charism Interviews. They are:\n• Administration\n• Celibacy\n• Craftsmanship\n• Encouragement\n• Evangelism\n• Extraordinary Faith\n• Giving\n• Healing\n• Helps\n• Hospitality\n• Intercessory Prayer\n• Knowledge\n• Leadership\n• Mercy\n• Missionary\n• Music\n• Pastoring\n• Prophecy\n• Service\n• Teaching\n• Voluntary Poverty\n• Wisdom\n• Writing\n\n\nWhat are the benefits of bringing charism discernment to my parish?\nOnce you have completed Team Training, you will be able to help your parishioners to come to a greater understanding of their own, unique spiritual giftedness. You will be able to help them to live according to their Baptism. A parish full of people who know their charisms and use their charisms is a parish that is alive in the Spirit and experiencing extraordinary spiritual fruitfulness. It is a parish that is healing and evangelizing. It is a parish that knows how God desires to use her to bring people to Jesus and to build up the Universal Church.\n\n\nStill have questions?\nContact Nicholas Hardesty (nhardesty@catholicaoc.org).\n\nTeam Training is a period of training that equips a team to provide the Catherine of Siena Institute’s three-step charism discernment process for their parish.\nAnyone who has completed the three-step charism discernment process can attend Team Training.\n1.
